oops yikes so sorry

Well, there is nothing like arriving at work on a Tuesday morning to hear that your team was expecting you to be there THE DAY BEFORE, because that is what is posted on the calendar, and oh, by the way, they really needed you because of some unforeseen circumstances. Gosh, I'm so sorry for the mix-up. To make sure this doesn't happen again, I just went over this month's calendar, and I think I have it right now. And to think I was just going about my day, with my head in the clouds, exercising, teaching, and even GOING TO A MOVIE!! Guilt sets in. Big time.

Now that I'm here in the library, I'm amazed at how peaceful and quiet it is! The "season" must be officially over, which means that the snowbirds have gone back to their northern homes. They give our economy a boost (a huge one!) and we appreciate them, but boy, is it ever nice to drive all over town without a traffic worry! So freeing! So here we are, in May, with a nice little breather before the craziness of the summer starts. I am referring to the huge number of children who will soon be invading our space (okay, not really invading, I mean we ARE a public library, but it can FEEL like an invasion!) with hopes of attending one of the wonderful children's programs our youth librarians present. Ah, to hear the pitter patter of little feet makes my heart happy, even though it means more work for the circulation team because more things (especially youth items) will be checked OUT by patrons and then checked IN by our team.

One more thing before signing off: How was everyone's Mother's Day? It is a bit bittersweet for many of us, I know. Not all mother/child relationships have turned out the way we expected. At least it's behind us now. Father's Day, here we come! :-) Oh, joy!
