workin workin

This past weekend, we had a "nature day" at the library, which was more fun than I've had at work in quite a while! Considering I have fun every day at my job at the library, this is quite a declaration! On a quick break from covering the youth department desk while the youth team was busy, I ventured outside. To my utter delight, I was greeted with the strong smell of ANIMALS in our field. Yes, real, live animals here at our humble library! I visited with a sow, a cow, 2 pygmy goats, a LLAMA (I loved him! His name was Superman!), some bunnies, a blue-tongued skink (yikes!), a horse (quite large!), and a farmer named Donny. The library, the reading garden, and the field adjacent to the building were all teeming with people of all ages enjoying the gorgeous weather, the sights and smells of animals, and the taste of freshly popped movie theater-style popcorn. So fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's really amazing how being close to nature perks us up. I found our patrons on our nature day to be in exceptionally good moods, and I found myself smiling for most of my shift as well. The day was a fabulous success and I'm so proud of my co-workers for helping organize such an extravaganza. Now I'm working on a mundane Monday, but the memories of last Saturday are keeping me all warm and fuzzy inside. I just love my job's challenges and surprises. Working in the library is fulfilling and I look forward to it every day.
